Purpose of the Role:


The Gas Quality Inspector (Domestic Gas) plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and compliance of domestic gas servicing, repair, and heating replacement programs.

Reporting to the Compliance & M&E Manager, this position involves providing technical oversight, conducting audits and inspections, and delivering expert advice while contributing to asset investment initiatives.


Key Accountabilities:

Technical Oversight and Quality Assurance (40%): Ensure adherence to safety standards by providing technical oversight to domestic testing and compliance programs.

Audit and Inspection (30%): Conduct comprehensive audits and inspections to validate and monitor the quality of domestic gas work, covering various housing portfolios and projects.

Technical Advice (10%): Provide expert technical advice on gas appliances, supplies, hot water services, and ground source heat pumps, fostering a consistent and informed approach.

Feasibility Studies and Surveys (10%): Undertake feasibility studies, surveys, and inspections to produce high-quality schemes and reports, contributing to asset investment programs.

Contract Administration (5%): Act as the Contract Administrator for small projects (up to £50,000), ensuring projects are executed within budgetary constraints.

Review and Maintenance Programs (5%): Collaborate with Compliance Delivery Officer(s) to review O&M information, ensuring ongoing suitability of maintenance, testing, and inspection programs.

Support Asset Management (10%): Provide assistance to the Housing Asset Management team, aligning with Aktons Client's Asset and Sustainability strategy and broader carbon objectives.


Key Relationships (Internal and External):


The Gas Quality Inspector collaborates with various stakeholders, including members of the M&E & Compliance team, the Head of Capital Programme, Building Safety & Information Manager, Sustainability Manager, M&E Asset Surveyor, Energy Officer, Building Safety Programme Manager, Building Safety Surveyor, Building Safety Advisor, Housing Fire Risk Assessor(s), Head of Outsourced Repairs, Head of ERD, and external partners.

Person Specification:


  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:_

Essential:


  • Educated to GCSE level (English & Maths).
  • Technical qualifications: CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR
  • Three years' experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of Gas Safety Regulations and British Standards.
  • Ability to review/draft technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of products and performance specifications.
  • Understanding of the Carbon Neutral agenda.
