Are you a supportive and enthusiastic Support worker? Do you have experience working with pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities? Are you looking for a new opportunity to utilise your skills?


Education World are currently working with a post 16 college based in the DH1 & SR8 areas, who are keen to take on Support Workers with SEN and Understanding Autism experience to confidently engage and support learners aged 14+ with complex needs & behaviour difficulties.

The role is working 121 with college learners, helping them navigate their time table and engage effectively within lessons.


A positive, enthusiastic individual who is able to bring previous knowledge and experience to the classroom is exactly what this college is looking for.

The students within such schools require a supportive presence who will be able to adapt to different situations. With SEN widely varying, the children have many different needs, which should always be a priority. Suitable experience from working with either children or vulnerable adults is greatly beneficial.

  • Have experience either working in an SEN environment, have a Understanding Autism certification or equivalent experience.
  • Have experience working with children & young adults with additional needs.
  • Have a positive cando attitude.
  • Be able to support the students with day to day activities while helping them to learn and adapt to the learning environment.
  • Have excellent behaviour management skills.
  • Be confident the can ensure all pupils reach their fullest potential.
This partner college offers courses for learners aged 14 and over. Provision for 14 and 15 year olds is provided by the 'Transitional Development Team'. This service gives unique, bespoke provision to help young people who are unable to remain in the school environment. Intense support is given around behaviour, responsibility, social and emotional management. With the Foundation learning team catering for students with moderate learning difficulties and a range of disabilities.

Contract length: 12 months

Part-time hours: 36 per week

£11.50 per hour
