An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified dietitian to join the dietetic team at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a newly created post to expand our dietetic team.

You will be working as part of the wider AHP team to help provide specialist dietetic services to a variety of patients with cancer.

We are looking for a HCPC registered dietitian with good general and nutrition support experience and preferably some experience or an active interest in oncology dietetics.

Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are essential, as is the ability to work as part of a team and also on your own initiative.

In conjunction with the Band 7 Oncology Dietitians and the Nutrition
Nurse Practitioner, to provide, monitor and plan oncology dietetic
services as part of the Allied Health Professionals Team liaising and working closely with all members of the multi
professional team to provide a high standard of care.

Oncology Dietitian

Full time 37.5 hrs/week

  • To provide a comprehensive high quality dietetic service to patients
receiving care from Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology.

  • To participate in audit and research and contribute to the standards
development pertaining to nutrition and dietetics.

  • To provide expert knowledge, education, advice and support to
healthcare professionals as part of the management of people with cancer.


The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK's leading providers of non-surgical cancer treatment, caring for a population of 2.4 million people across Cheshire & Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire.


Our flagship specialist cancer hospital in Liverpool opened in June 2020, supported by our hospital on the Clatterbridge Health Park in Wirral providing outpatient cancer treatment and supportive care, and our radiotherapy treatment centre on the Aintree Hospital site.


Together, working across three sites and operating specialist chemotherapy clinics in four of Merseyside's district hospitals, we are able to deliver a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies.

We also deliver a pioneering Treatment at Home and Work service; are the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers and host the region's Teenage and Young Adult Unit, (supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust).


Working with leading experts from The University of Liverpool and the Cancer Research UK Liverpool Cancer Trials Unit we strive to stay at the forefront of novel treatments and techniques to deliver more effective and personalised treatments than ever before.

To act as part of the dietetic team to provide specialist dietetic services to patients with a variety
of solid tumours attending the Trust. This will include patients receiving radiotherapy,
chemotherapy and/or supportive care on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.

  • To participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to advise on issues related to nutrition.
  • Use developed communication skills to educate staff and patients in complex dietary therapies
and nutrition support regimes.

  • To effectively manage a clinical caseload to ensure efficient use of dietetic resources.
  • To contribute to the development of dietetic services within the Trust.
  • To work collaboratively with the Band 7 Oncology Dietitians and the Nutrition Nurse practitioner
to develop evidence based best practice clinical nutrition guidelines.

  • To contribute to a multi professional approach to patient care.
  • To contribute to the development of policies and procedures for delivering effective nutritional
care.

To participate in research and audit related to the service that will lead to improvement in quality
and service outcomes.

  • To liaise with specialist dietitians e.g. home enteral feeding, nutrition support, over specific
dietary problems or queries and to develop and evaluate evidence based resources and
information sheets.

  • To undertake comprehensive assessment of patients, understanding drug treatments and other
clinical tests results with relevance to the dietary intervention required.

  • To undertake clinical and nutritional assessment of complex oncology patients, including
