Health & Wellbeing Practitioner Pay Rate:£28 - £30 per hour (assignment rate)

Duties:


  • Deliver client centred treatment using both harm reduction and abstinence based treatment approaches depending on the requirements of the individual client
  • Working within an integrated healthcare framework to provide support to prisoners with substance misuse, lowlevel mental health and overall health and wellbeing issues
  • Be responsible for managing a caseload, providing appropriate harm reduction advice and guidance, assessments, and care plans; you will deliver structured 1:1 and group
- work sessions on both Substance Misuse and Low Level Mental Health topics and provide transitional support from prison to the community to prepare service users for release

  • Contributing to the targets set, additionally the role requires you to make case note entries and record information accurately
  • Write progress reports for clients aimed at a specific audience, good quality written work will be expected in this role

Requirements of the Health & Wellbeing Practitioner:

  • Psychologists must be registered and accredited members of the BACP. (Registered Member MBACP (Accred) or Registered Member MBACP (Snr Accred).)
  • Psychologist with HCPC registration
  • Proactively approach integrated ways of working and support and adopt a multidisciplinary approach
  • Excellent experience of substance misuse and/or mental health work in a related field
  • Demonstrable experience of carrying out risk assessments, comprehensive assessments and the design and implementation of SMART care plans
  • Significant experience of carrying out psychosocial interventions including using motivational interviewing techniques in both 1:1 and therapeutic group settings
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice sector
  • Knowledge of the Recovery Agenda
  • A thorough knowledge of and commitment to the 12step process of recovery from addiction
  • Experience of providing counselling / CBT services to prisoners, or those with Health and Wellbeing, or drug and / or alcohol problems
  • Personal experience of addiction/imprisonment (Addicts in recovery should have at least 3 years clean time)
  • Exprisoners, should have been released at least 5 years ago
