Are you a proven, experienced Operations Director?
Do you have a strong background in operational leadership within the renewable energy, construction, or home improvements sector? Are you confident leading teams, optimising processes, and delivering scalable, high-quality operations across solar PV, battery storage, and air source heat pumps?

As Operations Director, you will be responsible for the end-to-end operational performance of the business. You will ensure that all operational functions — from customer onboarding and surveying through to installation, commissioning, and aftercare — operate efficiently, safely, and profitably, while delivering an excellent customer experience.

This is a senior leadership role with both strategic and hands-on responsibility. You will translate business strategy into operational execution, driving continuous improvement, scalability, and operational excellence as the organisation grows.

The Role

• Own and lead all operational functions, ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery of renewable energy solutions.
• Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the overall business plan and growth objectives.
• Oversee installation operations for solar PV, battery storage, and air source heat pumps, ensuring projects are delivered on time, to budget, and to regulatory standards.
• Lead, mentor, and develop operational teams, including installers, surveyors, project managers, and operational support staff.
• Design, implement, and continuously improve operational processes, systems, and workflows to increase efficiency and scalability.
• Ensure full compliance with health & safety regulations, MCS standards, and all relevant industry and statutory requirements.
• Work closely with the Leadership Team to align operations with sales, marketing, and customer service activity.
• Manage operational budgets, resource planning, and supplier relationships to ensure cost control and strong margins.
• Monitor, track, and report operational KPIs, identifying risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Own the customer journey from sale through installation and aftercare, ensuring a consistently positive customer experience.
• Lead problem-solving and escalation management for complex operational or customer issues.
• Support growth initiatives, including new product launches, process scaling, and geographic expansion where required.

What we are looking for

• Extensive senior operations experience, ideally within renewable energy, construction, utilities, or a related home services sector.
• Proven track record of leading and scaling operational teams in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
• Strong understanding of installation-led operations, logistics, workforce planning, and supply chain management.
• Experience managing health & safety compliance, quality assurance, and industry accreditation frameworks.
• Commercially astute, with the ability to manage budgets, improve margins, and drive operational efficiency.
• Strong leadership presence with excellent people management, coaching, and performance management skills.
• Highly organised and process-driven, with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Comfortable operating at both strategic and hands-on levels when required.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to work cross-functionally at leadership level.
• Calm under pressure, decisive, and solutions-focused.
• Organised, accountable, and driven — self-motivated and comfortable operating with a high level of autonomy.
• Direct experience in renewable energy operations (solar PV, battery storage, air source heat pumps) or a closely related installation-led sector is highly desirable.
