What will you do
As part of the Perth manufacturing leadership team; the Team Leader is responsible for an autonomous team(s) to deliver organizational and production results in line with the site strategy (Strategic A3) and specific objectives for the department(s) including:
Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Engagement, Attendance, Training & Development.


Key Responsibilities:


Own staffing and development including mentoring, training and qualification of teams to ensure the acquisition of all vital skills to operate, maintain, changeover and troubleshoot equipment autonomously in a safe and quality manner.


Role-model the Thermo Fisher Scientific 4i Values and Operations Competencies and use as a day-to-day guide in decision making within your department.

Utilise all available resources to achieve your department goals.

Take accountability for the results of the department, and responsibility for the decisions made during night shift.

Hence, you must ensure that any Lead operator, Senior operator and Operators are clear on their role, their individual responsibilities, operating principles, and that the operating systems are always followed and maintained.

Establish and maintain the standards for your team for safety, quality, appearance, attendance/cover, and other operating systems.

Personally, role model implementation and execution of the systems and standards for your teams to ensure full implementation of the daily cycle with all associated operating systems.

Set daily direction for your teams by effectively leading tiered meetings, whilst personally owning the Tier 2 (department) review.

This will include, but is not limited to:

  • Reviewing daily results to establish gaps and priorities
  • Develop and implement daily pit stop plans to complete maintenance, closeout gaps/problems, and implement systems to deliver shift goals
  • Lead troubleshooting of open barriers to the rootcause.
  • Support your Leaders and Team members in resolution of barriers
  • Review and learn from daily activities to calibrate and develop your Leaders and Team members.
  • Ensure effective communication and relay collaboration within and between shifts.
Most importantly, you must empower the individuals within department, and develop them into a strong, autonomous and engaged team:

  • Build an environment that encourages individual and team growth.
  • Set clear, comprehensive expectations, set an example, provide meaningful, timely feedback about performance, train and coach to continuously improve individual performance and business results.
  • Learn by doing, guide by example and promote 'Review and learn' approach at individual, team and department levels.
  • Carry out daily safety Gemba walks.
  • Ensure training requirements for individual roles are appropriate and comprehensive of all jobrelated tasks, assess training needs for new and existing employees. Ensure all mandatory training requirements are completed as required.
  • Partner with Dept Manager & Supervisors to map out training plans for individual employees.
  • Coordinate implementation of SOP updates, ensuring operator awareness and plan training where required.

  • Problem Solving Effective in technical and organizational troubleshooting to root cause.
