As we enter a period of expansion, we are seeking a Road Freight Operator / Freight Forwarder to join our forward thinking team.
Specialising in road transport to and from Europe, we provide full load and groupage services offering a comprehensive logistics solution to our valued clients.
Role Overview:
As a key player in our European operations department, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end communication with our clients, from quoting to invoicing.
You will ensure smooth progress of consignments from loading to delivery by coordinating with our own fleet of trucks or partner sub-contractors.
You will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional service and maintaining our reputation for reliability and efficiency.Daily Duties (with assistance from the admin team and other colleagues)
- Provide quotes for groupage shipments and full loads to and from Europe
- Building jobs on our TMS system
- Arrange customs clearance in both origin and destination countries for required consignments
- Coordinate with the traffic department to arrange groupage collections within the UK
- Liaise with our overseas agents to coordinate collections and onward deliveries
- Obtain quotations from various partner subcontract hauliers and make booking decisions based on price and reliability
- Maintain regular communication with subcontractors to ensure smooth operations
- Plan groupage trailers to and from Europe and prepare accurate load lists
- Monitor the progress of consignments by tracking our own drivers and making necessary phone calls
- Provide regular updates to our customers on the status of their shipments
- Identify and book suitable backloads in Europe to optimise our own fleet efficiencies
- Finalise Proof of Delivery documentation in our TMS system and ensure accurate invoicing data is processed
- Previous experience working within overseas transport is required (training will be provided on the duties above)
- Experience in customs requirements is beneficial but not essential
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with confidence in data management
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Team player mentality with a proactive approach to supporting colleagues
- Understanding of profit / loss principles and a willingness to go over and above to increase profit margins where possible
Pay:
£25,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
