Safeguarding and Inclusion Officer (Ealing)

Contract type:
Full time, permanent


Key responsibilities:


  • To lead on all aspects of safeguarding within the school, including ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policy, maintaining accurate records, and providing support to staff and students as required.
  • To lead on inclusion within the school, promoting and embedding a culture of diversity and equality, and supporting the needs of all students, particularly those with SEND, or other additional needs.
  • To work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement effective strategies for improving attendance, reducing exclusion rates, and supporting students who may be experiencing difficulties or barriers to learning.
  • To liaise with external agencies, including social services, health professionals, and other relevant organizations, to ensure that students receive the support they need to thrive.
  • To provide training and guidance to staff on issues relating to safeguarding and inclusion, including developing and delivering CPD sessions as required.
  • To keep up to date with relevant legislation and policy developments, and ensure that the school's safeguarding and inclusion policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated as required.
  • To contribute to the wider life of the school, including attending meetings and events, and supporting extracurricular activities as appropriate.

Essential criteria:


  • Relevant professional qualification in a related field (e.g. social work, education, psychology)
  • Proven experience of working in a safeguarding and/or inclusion role in a school setting
  • Indepth knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, and best practice relating to safeguarding and inclusion
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage a complex workload and prioritize effectively
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion, and to supporting the needs of all students
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, and to lead on initiatives as required

Desirable criteria:


  • Experience of leading on safeguarding and/or inclusion in a school setting
  • Experience of delivering training and/or CPD sessions to staff
  • Experience of working with external agencies and professionals to support students
  • Understanding of restorative justice approaches to behavior management
  • Ability to speak additional languages, particularly those spoken by students in the school community
