A mainstream secondary school in Hackney actively seeks an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Teaching Assistant to enrich the learning experience and build strong connections with students.


Role Overview:


As an ESOL Teaching Assistant, you will collaborate with classroom teachers to support students whose primary language is not English in their language-learning journey.


Your responsibilities will include implementing planned learning activities under the guidance of the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and teaching staff, adhering to the school's policies and guidelines.

This role involves planning, preparing, and delivering learning activities for individuals or groups, while also monitoring student progress.


The school is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where students are empowered to reach their full potential, as evidenced by their 'Good' rating in the latest Ofsted report.

Requirements:


  • Delivery of a personcentred approach, including oneonone and small group interventions.
  • Demonstrated literacy skills.
  • Ability to support students in their educational and behavioural development.
  • Assistance in helping students achieve their goals through effective communication, fostering independence, and encouraging active participation.


You will work with a diverse range of students, aged from 16 to 24, so confidence in supporting students up to degree level is crucial.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
