Reed are representing our public sector client to recruit a Payroll Officer. This is a full time, permanent position offering remote working with 1 day in the office per week.

As a Payroll Officer, you will be carrying out duties to ensure the effective administration of payroll.


Roles and responsibilities:

  • Assist with uploading data and running the payroll system
  • Supervise payroll production and ensuring that all information entered in correct and complete
  • Arrange payment to third parties for statutory and voluntary deductions
  • Scrutinise claims within the audit role
  • Ensure all transactions are paid in accordance with policy
  • Ensure monthly submissions to HMRC are accurate and on time
  • Assist with any reports for external or internal bodies in respect for pay information
  • Provide support for employees in regards to pension queries

To be successful, you will:

  • Have proven experience in a payroll environment
  • Good technical knowledge of HMRC regulations
  • Able to interpret legislation in respect of pay regulations
  • Able to work to strict deadlines
  • Good written and communication skills
  • Proven experience supervising staff
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft
  • CIPP qualification (desirable)
