Location:Manchester, UKThe Kilo Lab Operator participates in the execution of chemical processes for the preparation of raw materials, starting materials, intermediates, and finished products (typically API) in the Kilo Lab in compliance with cosmetics GMP quality standards (as required), as well as cleaning of Kilo Lab equipment and suites.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to PR&D Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Participation in the execution of chemical processes in the Kilo Lab. This is following issued batch records and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)/Technical Work Instructions (TWIs), where the ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.
  • Assisting with preparation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)/Technical Work Instructions (TWIs) for the Kilo Lab (as needed)
  • Support Manufacture to ISO22716 and support PRD Scaleup development activities to KL scale Interacts with Facilities, Analytical Chemistry, Process Research and Development, EH&S, and Quality Assurance groups in an effective manner.
  • Liaise with the QC&A and Production departments to ensure project requirements are met
  • As needed, interaction may be required with Facilities team/vendors for Kilo Lab maintenance/repairs.
  • Evaluating current procedures and equipment in the Kilo Lab for continuous improvement.
  • Participating in cGMP compliance of the Kilo Lab and associated equipment, as well as the corresponding production processes and products.
  • Performing routine operations for cleaning, solution preparation, and charging.
  • Ensuring the upkeep of Kilo Lab equipment and infrastructure to a high standard, compliant to ISO22716 and 5S standards
  • Ensuring equipment maintenance schedules are met and executed as required.
  • Ensuring IQ/OQ/PQ of equipment is undertaken at scheduled intervals.
  • Ensuring work is scheduled making effective use of reactors/filters and resources as required.
  • As needed, participating in the execution of chemical processes in the PR&D Labs, in support of the PR&D Chemists.
  • To be aware of all safety requirements for the working area and abide by all safety rules and regulations.
  • To ensure completion of each project to the highest professional standards, fulfilling the requirements of the customer (internal & external) as documented in the project proposal.
  • Once trained, must be able to work unsupervised, as well as with other operators
  • Additional duties as assigned, specifically to assist others in the Operations group or in other departments.

Requirements:


  • Qualified to at least Alevel standard or equivalent. Degree in chemistry or related science desirable but not essential
  • 2 Years relevant experience preferable working within a kilo laboratory or production facility within the chemical industry.
  • Good communication skills and flexibility, able to get on with others and be a teamplayer.
  • Must be proficient in use of MS Office, particularly Word and Excel
