Assisting the cook in the day to day running of the kitchen, you will demonstrate good hygiene and recording practice within E.H.O guidelines.

You will assume responsibility for the kitchen in the absence of the cook. Previous experience desirable.

Hours of work are 9.00am - 2pm (3 days on 5 days off.)


Responsibilities:

Carry out preparation and cooking of food.

Responsible for serving and presentation of food, including serving trays to the relevant rooms.


Assist cook and kitchen assistant with clearing and washing dishes, utensils and keep on top of the washing up while the kitchen assistant is on the tea round.

Serving residents in the dining room while the cook serves from the Bane Marie.


Undertake any cleaning activities necessary to ensure that standards of hygiene and Health and Safety are maintained to a high standard in the kitchen and other associated areas.

This includes store cupboards, daily oven cleaning, the cleaning of specialized equipment e.g. mixers.

Report any faults or malfunctions in the kitchen equipment to the appropriate person.

Report any other problems which affect the smooth running of the kitchen and associated areas.

Checking of goods against copy orders, ensuring quality and quantity.

Stock control and knowledge of meal costs to ensure good financial management of budget.
