Job Title - Building Surveyor

Location - Birmingham

Salary - £35,000 - £45,000


An exciting opportunity has arisen with my client, one of the TOP 20 of Building Magazine's Top 150 Building Consultancy's list and with one of the largest teams of Building Surveyors in the property sector.

They are looking for someone to add to their already vast knowledge and experience and to support their clients at every stage of acquisition, investment, ownership, and occupationeven through to disposal/demolition.


You will be working with a range of clients managing their property portfolios, due to their continued success and growth they are looking to recruit a talented Building Surveyor to join their multi-disciplinary consultancy.


You will pick up and learn along the way from some of the best Building Surveyors today whilst working on prestigious projects, from large residential to industrial and educational schemes and contract values over £30 million to much small schemes across a wide array of Building Surveying and Project Management roles.

Role And Responsibilities

  • Client management and contract administration/practice duties
  • Provide advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of all types of residential, commercial properties and educational facilities
  • Carry out building, measured and condition surveys
  • Ensure buildings conform to the latest building regulations and technical standards
  • Taking particulars on site, writing up specifications, obtaining estimates, planning maintenance programmes, and administering contracts for maintenance work
  • Analyse and report on building defects
  • Handling claims and negotiations with loss adjusters leading to the preparation of drawings and specifications for remedial work
  • Prepare schedules of dilapidations
  • Undertake the role of quality monitor on various schemes including housing schemes
  • Prepare designs for extensions, refurbishment schemes and new build developments ranging from £50,000 to £4m
  • Prepare Notices, Schedules of Condition and Awards for Party Wall matters
Experience And Skills Required

  • Relevant degree qualified and ideally already on a RICS pathway
  • AutoCAD drawing skills
  • Some private practice experience preferable
  • You will also need to show a desire to become a Chartered Building Surveyor (this will be fully supported by the company and your local Building Surveying Team)
