The Waste Management Unit are recruiting for a permanent Waste Management Project Officer to lead and manage projects, develop initiatives and provide technical support.


This is an exciting opportunity within the Operations and Strategy Team, responsible for delivering a number of Hertfordshire's high profile waste disposal and treatment contracts and the construction of an evolving waste management network.


The role will include cross-departmental work across a number of sites and research with both internal and external partners to assist the Waste Management Unit in the delivery of its statutory functions and in particular, the delivery of contracted services designed to meet the future sustainability and waste management needs of the service.


With well-developed organisational and project planning skills, you will have the ability to manage a diverse workload with multiple deadlines and stakeholders and be able to explain systems and processes to others.


Ideally with a background in Waste Management, you will be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of relevant legislation and a sound understanding of contract management within the sector.


A great opportunity for professional development, the workload is often varied, with scope for involvement in constructions projects, digital improvements and an array of cross-departmental working, in addition to the underlying waste management requirements.
