We have a new purpose-built facility in Chatteris, focussing on manufacturing aircraft components for several major Aerospace and Defence OEMs.

We are looking for experienced (CNC, 3 or 5-axis, operators using metallic or composite material) machinists who are looking for their next challenge, and thrive working in a fast paced, innovative environment, manufacturing parts for major Aerospace and Defence OEMs.

Our modern purpose-built facility is designed so no jobs are too big for us - anything from components on helicopters to the manufacture of complex tooling.

Starting Salary and responsibility will be offered according to experience and qualifications with opportunities to increase salary with experience.

Job Purpose

  • Setting and operating 5 axis machines
  • Running offline programs
  • Inspection of components using analogue and digital handheld measuring equipment
  • Operating and programming touch probes
  • Reading engineering drawings
  • Tool setting
  • Machine alignment checks
  • Manual machining operations
  • Communicating and recording information and instructions
Key Responsibilities

  • 5 Axis machine operation, including
  • Tools setting and checking
  • Part setup
  • Operation of Heidenhain and Fanuc controllers
  • Running offline programs
  • Inspecting parts to engineering drawings
  • Reading engineering drawings
including understanding geometric tolerancing

  • Ad hock jig and fixture creation
  • Loggings hours on route cards
  • Carry out daily maintenance checks
  • Machine maintenance
  • Ensure that quality is maintained to specific requirements
  • To provide clear communication and instructions to team members and to all other departments
  • To ensure that all materials are used efficiently and recorded as required
  • Fully comply with company policies including Health and Safety

Skills and experience:

  • Several years of CNC experience within the Aerospace or Automotive industry
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced working environment
  • Commercial awareness, excellent problemsolving skills, eliminating wastes and risks
  • Provide training, guidance and assistance to coworkers as required

You will be offered a full-time contract which comes with a competitive salary. The role is 40 hours per week with the opportunity for overtime. Standard shifts are 8 hour per day, Monday to Friday from.
