Core duties include:

  • To lead and manage student welcome & induction activity, delivering bespoke inductions to meet the specific needs of King's Foundations students, liaising with key academic staff within the Department and as well as Professional Services Teams across the university.
  • To lead on the design, delivery & data collection of student feedback for King's Foundations and King's Language Centre, working closely with the Student Experience Officer and key academic staff to ensure a joinedup approach to collating feedback from students.
  • To manage student communications in relation to welcome & induction and student voice, working closely with the Student Experience Manager and the wider Student Experience Team to create and maintain an effective and engaging student communications plan.
  • Line management of the Student Experience Officer

This is a full time post.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the welcome & induction offering with King's Foundations, working the KIF & Presessional Teams to plan and deliver a programme of activity including the prearrival information site, welcome events and programme inductions.
  • Liaison with colleagues in the Students & Education and Estates & Facilities Directorates to coordinate with centralised planning and events.
  • Lead on the design, delivery and data collection of student feedback within the department, working closely with the Heads of Foundation and Presessional Programmes to develop an annual student feedback plan which ensures feedback collation is useful and timely.
  • Oversight of the student representation system for King's Foundations and King's Language Centre, working with the Student Experience Officer to manage student rep recruitment, training and engagement for each department.
  • Oversight of the Staff-Student Liaison committee meetings, ensuring that actions are appropriately addressed, and outcomes are communicated with students and staff through an effective 'you said, we did' campaign.
  • Manage student communications in relation to welcome & induction, student voice and key programme updates, creating informative and engaging content using a multiplatform approach.
  • Work closely with the Student Experience Manager, the wider Student Experience Team, Programmes Team, Education Manager, Heads of Programmes and Director to create and maintain an effective and engaging student communications plan for the King's Foundations department.
  • Liaison with the Faculty Welfare & Wellbeing Advisors and wider Student Experience Team to design and deliver events that specifically support students with managing their wellbeing, identifying key points within the academic year where sessions would be most needed.
  • Deputise for Student Experience Manager & Senior Tutor in managing safeguarding activities and escalating student welfare cases to the appropriate support in Student Services when necessary.
  • Support the Student Experience Manager in ensuring continual improvement of the experience for all students, through regular monitoring and evaluating of student experience activities.
  • Contribute to annual evaluation reports relating to student experience activities, working with the Student Experience Manager to set goals and objectives for the team.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the department and the university, deputising for the Student Experience Manager in attending College meetings when required.
  • Support the Student Experience Manager with PACE and College projects which aim to enhance the student experience.
  • Support the Student Experience Manager in developing & implementing the King's Foundations departmental Student Experience strategy.
  • Support the Senior Student Experience Officer (Progression) with their activities & initiatives at peak periods.
  • Working flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team, ensuring all work is carried out in a professional & timely manner with appropriate confidentially and sensitivity.
  • Incorporate good practice in equality & diversity into student experience activity.
  • To design, develop and monitor strategic provision of the student experience function in King's Foundations and King's Language Centre and our portfolio of activities
  • To contribute to the development of a Student Experience framework for the School of Professional and Continuing Education (PACE).
  • To set out strategic plans and annual schedules for managing the delivery of the service across the whole student lifecycle.
  • To work in close partnership with central College Services to support all extracurricular aspects of the student experience, including the Students & Education Directorate (Registry Services, Student Services, Visa Compliance), King's Residences and others when appropriate
