  • Do you want to lead a high performing operational team in Yorkshire, to deliver fantastic outcomes for our communities and for the environment?

As responding to incidents is a central part of what we do, you will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.

This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role

We are looking for a team leader with the ability to lead, motivate and deliver our business and people priorities, with a flexible approach.

You will promote our ambitions around equality, diversity and inclusion ensuring that everyone works towards creating a life-enhancing place to work.

You will also play a leading role in looking after the fisheries and ecology across Yorkshire, as part of our Fisheries, Biodiversity and Geomorphology (FBG) Team Leader network.

We have a job share (0.6) permanent team leader position to lead one of Yorkshire's FBG Teams at the Environment Agency.


  • The team
  • The FBG teams are a highly skilled and specialist resource for Yorkshire area. They are involved in permitting, projects, advice, and environmental risk management to protect and enhance the environment of Yorkshire. There are two Fisheries, Biodiversity and Geomorphology teams in Yorkshire which sit in the Environment Management department under the Water, Land and Biodiversity function. The Area is busy and geographically diverse with large rivers, several ongoing flood alleviation schemes, and large partnership projects.


  • Experience/skills required

You should have experience of leading people; this may have been achieved through non-team leader roles such as project management or a technical specialist/leader role.

In Yorkshire, Health, Safety & Wellbeing is our top priority. You must be able be demonstrate your awareness of keeping yourself and others safe and well.
You'll be able to balance and manage demands on the team from internal and external sources to help prioritise and manage workloads

You'll have experience of building and maintaining productive and influential relationships with internal and external customers and partners, which is a key part of the role.

Knowledge of the Water, Land and Biodiversity is not essential, as full training will be given, with further ongoing development opportunities available.
