About Us:

Biospan is an exciting food startup in the health and nutrition sector. We are a health-focused private chef service that serves organic personalised meals to ultra-high net-worth individuals in the UK.

You have a private chef in your kitchen, you get bespoke meals for your health. We operate our own nutrition clinic too, and create bespoke health programmes for our clients.

We employ chefs and nutritionists and work with laboratories. supplement companies, and local organic food suppliers.

We are looking for an experienced and meticulous Bookkeeper to join our growing team.

This role is perfect for someone who values health and nutrition, enjoys the dynamic pace of a startup, and is looking to grow with our company.

Flexibility and strong communication skills are essential.


This is a bookkeeping role, but it will have an element of operational duties - with room to grow your career and build a cool company.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Maintain accurate records through ledger management.
  • Manage payables, including payments to suppliers, and processing payroll.
  • Handle PAYE benefits management and pension schemes.
  • Liaise with our accountant and HMRC, managing communications efficiently.
  • Keep track of billables to suppliers and ensure timely payments.
  • Prepare weekly payables projections and cash flow forecasts. Provide weekly updates on VAT and tax liabilities.
  • Utilize strong communication skills to chase up invoices over the phone with persistence.
  • Oversee customer billing, including recordkeeping of customer billing cycles, customer usage, chef labour, chef wages, and nutrition wages.
  • Create adhoc invoices as required.
  • Continuously seek ways to reduce costs, including identifying unused subscriptions and payments.

Qualifications:


  • Previous bookkeeping experience is essential.
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles.
  • Knowledge of UK tax laws, PAYE, and pension schemes.
  • XERO experience.
  • Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software.
  • A passion for health and nutrition.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a fastpaced startup environment.
