Mechanical Maintenance Fitter

£36,500 basic + overtime at enhanced rates & other benefits

£18.00 earlies and lates and £23.94 per hour nights

Due to continued expansion they are now looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join an established maintenance team, and to keep the wheels turning via planned and preventative maintenance across heavy machinery and site equipment.


The Role

Working over a 3 shift rotating system (Monday to Friday, with weekends being at enhanced rates if you work), which includes earlies, lates and a 'night shift that runs from 8pm to 5am, you'll be responsible for maintaining equipment and machinery at the heavierend of the scale.


Other things you'll be involved with include:

  • Putting together assemblies prior to fitting them to the machine
  • Reading engineering and technical drawings to aid with your work
  • Removing, repairing and replacing machine parts, such as pumps, pipework, hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Utilising traditional hand tools and workshop machinery (drills, lathes etc.) to repair or fabricate items that can be made
  • Assisting others in the maintenance team with activities such as machine installations

The Person

You can tell that this role requires experience and solid mechanical knowledge, so you'll need a few things in your locker to be considered.


  • Suitably qualified and experienced within mechanical maintenance
  • Exposure to heavier machinery, such as those used in aggregates, waste management, concrete, bricks, materials handling etc, industries
  • Mechanical workshop and welding skills, as well as safe hand tool use
  • An ability to work to maintenance schedules and timeframes
  • Planned and preventive maintenance experience, as well as responding to breakdowns
  • An ability to communicate with others in the business, both spoken and via the written word, in clear conversational and technical terms
  • Experience of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Be happy with working the 3shift pattern, Monday to Friday
  • Solid H&S mindset

As this is a permanent role, we require you to ALREADY be within a reasonable commute of Ilkeston and not need to relocate.
The rewards

  • An hourly rate of £18 per hour for earlies and lates, and £23.94 for the 'night shift' this equates to a basics of circa £36,500
