We are seeking to appoint a Principal Mechanical Engineer to work within our Facilities Maintenance and Compliance Unit (FMC) who will take the lead in driving forward the mechanical works program as well as developing and overseeing the utilities infrastructureof the University which has a current portfolio of 229 buildings.


The post holder will be directly responsible to the Head of Facilities - Maintenance and Compliance and as part of this role you will set, develop and monitor appropriate and acceptable standards of service in respect of mechanical engineering design andmaintenance issues across the estate.

You will manage a team comprising of Senior Mechanical Engineers, Mechanical Inspectors and other technical staff, whilst also responsible for the monitoring of cost effective LTM, PPM & reactive maintenance schemes acrossbuildings and infrastructure.


  • Chartered Mechanical Engineer CEng MCIBSE. Preferred but working towards would be considered.
  • Significant relevant experience at a senior level with a client side large portfolio holder.
  • Responsible Person for Legionella and Gas
  • Facilities Compliance experience.
  • Experience with Steam Networks.
  • PPM and CAFM system experience.
  • Managing and leading a small team.
