Chichester College have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as an
IT Systems Engineer,working as part of the IT Support Team, based at our
West Durrington Campus but supporting systems across the group.

You will join us on a
full time, permanent basis and in return, we will offer a competitive salaryof
£28,079 - £30,691 per annum.



The Chichester College Groupis the largest provider of further education in Sussex and is comprised of 5 Colleges based at Chichester, Crawley, Worthing, Haywards Heath, and Brinsbury near Pulborough which is land-based. Through our colleges,we educate and train around 25,000 full and part-time students every year and provide teaching excellence to meet the future needs of the region's employers.


The IT Systems Engineer role:


As our
IT Systems Engineer, you will maintain and enhance group IT systems including physical and virtualised server estate and related SAN/storage environments.


You will provide a third level technical resource within the IT Services team, and work independently and as part of a team on complex technical projects.


Key Responsibilities of our IT Systems Engineer:

  • Ensuring that the IT systems are secure, resilient, robust, and meet the needs of the Group
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation of IT systems
  • Following relevant change management processes
  • Working independently and as a member of a larger team on the design, specification, procurement, and implementation of complex IT based systems
  • Proactively monitoring the operation and efficiency of IT systems
  • Responding to requests received via the Help Desk system within prescribed service level agreements
  • Performing routine backup, recovery and maintenance tasks as required
  • Engaging in knowledge sharing with the wider IT Services team
  • Liaising with external support providers and vendors as required
  • Proactively maintaining knowledge and skills within areas of responsibility

Our ideal IT Systems Engineer should have the below skills and experience:

  • General education to Level
  • IT related qualification at Level 3 or above
  • Substantial experience in deploying, administering, maintaining and supporting:
  • Windows/Linux server
  • Active Directory (inc. Group Policy)
  • VMWare ESX/VSphere
  • Microsoft SCCM/MECM
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • General IT hardware and software skills associated with Microsoft desktop operating systems and PC hardware
  • Familiarity with Microsoft M365 and AAD
  • The ability to communicate with a diverse range of people at all ages and levels, both technically and non technically
  • Structured and methodical approach to solving complex technical problems
