We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Research Assistant for Solidarity in Global Health at the Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health at the Nuffield Department of Medicine.


You will be working as a member of a research group with responsibility for the provision of research support for a Wellcome Funded research project aimed at developing a solidarity index for global health research and funding.

You will work closely with the Principal Investigator, Dr Caesar Atuire, and with the project team based at the University of Ghana as well as collaborators in Australia, South Africa, Canada, Costa Rica, Austria, and India.

In addition, you will also assist with the MSc IHTM programme by offering advice and guidance to students on research methods, global health ethics and governance and other tasks assigned by the Course Director.

It is essential that you hold a first degree, together with some relevant experience in a field related to global health or the humanities (e.g. philosophy, sociology, anthropology, psychology) or closely related discipline such as bioethics. You will have sufficient specialist knowledge in global health ethics to work within established research programmes (e.g. literature reviews, qualitative data analysis), and be able to manage own research and administrative activities.

It is essential that you have excellent communication skills, including the ability to write text that can be published, present data at conferences, and represent the research group at meetings.


This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract for 24 months and is funded by the Wellcome Discovery Award.
