This role will be pivotal in ensuring that Sepura's product designs are engineered for reliability, manufacturability and testability, and that suppliers deliver the level of quality in Sepura's products demanded by our users.

The Quality Manager will lead Sepura's Quality Team and provide support and direction across the business for all aspects of product and process quality.

This role will oversee the collaboration of the Quality Team with both internal teams and with our suppliers.

Your Role
As the Quality Manager, you will lead a team of quality specialists who work with cross functional teams. You will provide leadership to the team and across Sepura to implement measurable quality improvements.


You will have a technical background in a development and/or manufacturing role to be able to understand and assist both design and process engineers in improving practices and resolving issues across all disciplines, including electronics, RF, mechanical or software.


Your Day to Day
Our customer base includes many different industries and markets around the world.

Our complete TETRA and LTE solutions have been developed specifically for users in multiple sectors to face their critical communications challenges.

There is no such thing as a typical day here at Sepura. You will be supported by your manager and team, as well as collaborating with other departments across the business.

As part of managing quality across the business, you will be responsible for managing the quality team to deliver on the business objectives for quality, this includes:

  • Collaboration with development teams to plan and ensure Quality Engineers are engaged and supporting the complete product development lifecycle.
  • Overseeing the engagement and liaison with external suppliers to assure delivery of quality in products.
  • Leading and driving the resolution of quality issues through structured methods to identify root causes and the appropriate corrective and preventative action plans.
  • The development and reporting of focused quality metrics used to set objectives for delivering measurable improvement across the business.
  • Management of the quality management system and tools at Sepura for the maintenance of Sepura's IISO standards certification.
  • Prioritisation and allocation of the quality team resources to support the business objectives.
  • Planning and budgeting for developing the quality systems at Sepura.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and be able to express the benefits of change to stakeholders to instigate change.
  • Coordination of quality and continuous improvements through the quality management framework and reporting of data throughout the business and to senior management.
  • As leader of a team, manage performance, coach, mentor and develop team members in their own personal development.

What you need to succeed

Qualifications

  • Minimum HND in Electronic / mechanical engineering or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Certification/accreditation in a recognised quality standard (e.g. IRCA Certified Auditor)

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Experience in managing a team of quality engineers that support product development from concept to production.
  • Familiarity with the development lifecycle of complex, electronic, mechanical and software products in volume production.
  • Experienced in quality methodologies, including Lean, sixsigma, 8D, PPAP, APQP, SPC and FMEA
  • A technical background with experience in working with technical teams as part of either the development of electronic equipment or implementing manufacturing processes and controls.
  • A track record of managing quality improvements across an organisation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to articulate and communicate with technicians, development engineers and managers both inside and outside the organisation.
  • Experience in leading changes through process development using databased decision making to lead appropriate and effective changes in quality.
  • Experience of managing the quality of suppliers across a global supply chain.
  • Lead auditor for conducting audits within an organisation and when working with suppliers.
  • Implementation and management of business systems to achieve ISO standards' requirements, including ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO27001.

Desirable Experience and Skills

  • Experience in engineering development in one or more areas including electromechanical manufacturing processes & controls, software, services.
  • Interaction and communication with customers in conjunction with support and commercial teams to be able to manage and drive delivery of product quality.
  • Ability to recognise and understand complex interactions between processes within the business to be able to facilitate change.
  • Capable in communicating through a variety of formats with an appreciation of target audience.
  • Team leading experience with good interpersonal relationship building and coaching skills for performance management.
  • Working knowledge of IEC80079, ISO27001, ISO45001 (OHSAS18001) and IPC standards
  • Confidence and experience to travel unaccompanied to varied geographical regions and cultures.
  • Develops good working relationships with external 3rd party companies.
