We are currently looking to recruit an experienced and empathetic Chef Manager for this care home based near Chobham, Surrey.

The kitchen at this 53 bed residential care home provides a breakfast, lunch and supper service serving freshly prepared home cooked food to residents, visitors and staff.

As the Chef Manager, you will be hands on in the kitchen as well as lead and manage the kitchen team ensuring a high standard of food is provided.

You will be involved in menu planning and as some of the residents have particular dietary requirements, you willliaise with staff and families to ensure that all menus meet nutritional needs and any special dietary needs are catered for.

You will need to be financially aware and able to manage budgets and cost control.

A key part of the role is to ensure due diligenceas well as maintaining hygiene levels and COSHH within all areas of the catering department.

You will also be working alongside other departments of the care home such as the events department to run and cater for theme meals.

Working hours will be 5/7 days, 40 hours per week (no late evenings).

  • Be an experienced Chef Manager with a proven work history and previous management experience
  • Ideally have worked within a Residential Care Home, hotel or similar environment
  • Hold Intermediate Food Handling Certificate & NVQ II/III or equivalent in Catering
  • Be financially aware and able to manage a budget and costs
  • Be able to lead, manage and develop a team whilst working as a team player
  • Be hands on in the kitchen
  • Have excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with residents, families and staff
  • Be able to follow procedures and due diligence
  • Be flexible and willing with a positive, can do attitude
  • Have a caring and empathetic manner
