Role - Trade Compliance Officer / Export Compliance OfficerLocation - Cheltenham (Hybrid working)
Type - Permanent
Salary - £25,000-£35,000 (DOE) + benefits
Key responsibilities of the Trade Compliance Officer / Export Compliance Officer role and not be limited to:
- Perform regulatory analysis to determine proper jurisdiction and appropriate classification of hardware, software and technology
- Carry out and manage due diligence checks on agents, customers, suppliers and service providers
- Review technical data that is being proposed for transfer or export to assess technical content and make appropriate classification and export licence determinations
- Check Customs documentation and update tracking information and the company ERP system accordingly, ready for HMRC and UK DIT Export Control compliance reports and audits
- Track status of all export authorisation requests from internal request to Governmental approval to close of licence/authorisation, as appropriate
- Provide support with the request of enduser undertakings and address queries raised by Customer Services and/or internal customers related to the undertakings
- Update and maintain the company ERP system with the correct export control classifications, enduser undertakings, export licences and export control statements (UK & US Export Controls)
- Assist with the management of ITAR agreements (TAA's, MLA's)
- Track and manage the use of Temporary Export Licences
- As a member of the Trade Compliance Team, serve as a focal point for export compliance queries
- Assist with the management of trade compliance system, including updates to the relevant processes
- Complete Export Classification Questionnaires and End-User Certificates for customers and suppliers
- Assist with raising relevant Customs documentation required for exhibitions, demonstrations, trials, supplier returns and exports of military technical data
- Knowledge of UK, EU and US import/export controls (essential to have knowledge in at least 1 of the 3 regions)
- Experience in the selection and use of licences, licence exceptions, and development, implementation, and management of a compliance program, including training, policies, guidelines and procedures;
- Experience in technology export classification preferred
- Experience in imports/exports related to the defence or other high tech industries is preferred
- Must be eligible to gain UK SC clearance
