As a Highways Inspector, you'll contribute to the safety, sustainability, and efficiency of our highway network through regular Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual inspections. Your responsibility will involve identifying defects in alignment with our maintenance strategy's investigatory levels. Utilising cutting-edge mobile capture devices, you'll assess and log identified issues, ensuring the continual improvement of our infrastructure. The Role

Thorough Inspections:

Conduct inspections to assess and document the condition of the public highway, ensuring it adheres to the Highways Authority's standards.

Efficient Defect Management:
Utilize data capture devices to promptly identify and report defects. Facilitate effective planning and prioritization of work by delivery teams and utilities, aligning with Essex County Council policies.

Stakeholder Engagement:
Provide expert advice, guidance, and information to stakeholders, partners, and customers. Responsively address complaints, offering clear guidance even when no immediate action is required.

Accident Site Management:
Identify accident claim sites, ensuring works comply with safety specifications. Prepare documentation and, when necessary, attend court hearings as a professional witness, contributing to informed resolutions.

Job Description

About You
***-
Educated to RQF Level 3 (A Level) or equivalent by experience. A City and Guilds qualification relevant to highway engineering or ONC or equivalent, is desirable.

Knowledge of Highway Authority and Local Government policies, practices and procedures in relation to highways maintenance, including Health and Safety Legislation as it affects works on the highway including Construction, Design and Management Regulations and traffic management

Provide practical advice and solutions to problems and ensure that tasks are followed through, loose ends are tied up and the job is completed.

Be persistent in problem solving, seeking solutions through the expertise of both self and others, researching the facts with care and resolving problems in a timely and thorough manner.
