GBR Recruitment are proud to be working as the exclusive recruitment business partner for the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society (LAS), who are recruiting for an experienced, influential Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to head up their leadingcharity organisation.


LAS prides itself in championing the value of the Lincolnshire farming, food & agricultural industry, and the society works closely with the local communities across the county. You will be the lead advocate for the work LAS do and to providethe quality standards to be adhered too.


As the CEO of LAS, you will be lead a flourishing charity organisation that has been operating for over 150 years, with an exceptionally proud ethos of pledging all its surplus funds back into the educational and charity operation. Thesefunds allow LAS to continually deliver and expand its wide ranging Agricultural, food & farming educational programme.


LAS boasts a prestigious modern events facility at the Lincolnshire Showground, offering a prime location to host diverse events; trade, charity, equine, farming, rural economy, sports, concerts, parties, corporate, craft, education, markets,& hospitality. As an industry and community focused charity the LAS showground signifies their presence as a leading event host; allowing for the new CEO to build upon existing strong foundations and roll out the 3-5 year plans. As the principal operationslead the CEO will play a key role in increasing the events business.


LAS education work is key to uniting farming, food, craft & education organisations. LAS host events to highlight how farming is integral to sustainable and environmentally friendly living, the careers available and modern farming methods.
LAS educates how food products go from field to plate, so we can live healthy, nutritious lives.


The LAS CEO will lead on all fronts, across team development, PR, events management, estate Management, CAPEX, OPEX, financials, ROI & business development. You will be a modern people-centric leader who thrives in developing others.


Responsibilities:


  • Effective & professional management of all interlinked departments including education, facilities, finance and business development
  • The principal advocate of LAS values (Trust, Education, Respect, Growth & Service).
  • Sole responsibility for the successful annual performance & growth of the society.
  • Upholds & maintains the charities excellent reputation, promoting the work they do.
- link between; stakeholders, trustees, permanent staff, volunteers, fundraising partners, charity commission, local government, trades, members & media.

  • Strategic lead who will develop & implement the short, medium & longterm visions for the society including its funding, events, fixed assets plus CAPEX & OPEX.
  • Professionally presenting to large scale event audiences promoting the society USP's.
  • Focused on all corporate & charity activities ensuring; revenue growth, increased profits (to Gift Aid to the Charity), reduced costs, reduced waste, CI, new service offerings & more, to grow further the Societies already impressive footprint.
  • Use creative ways to raise awareness of LAS, secure new funding & host new events.

Required Experience & Skills:


  • CEO, COO or GM experience within a SME sized Charity, membership or commercial organisation.
  • People person with strong emotional intelligence (values, guides & develops teams).
  • An inspirational positive driven leader, who excels in employee engagement.
  • A professional business strategist with a tangible record of delivering operationally.
  • The ability to effectively deliver the Societies charitable objectives, mission & visions.
  • Marries strategic plans and operations to drive CI, growth, profits, L&D for all & more.
  • Leads from the top down by valuing, mentoring, coaching & developing all at LAS.
  • Market intelligence with a strong knowledge of Events / Charity / NFP competitors.
  • Ability, with the financial director, to interpret both financial & nonfinancial reports / MI / KPI's.
  • Presenting performance reports to; Trustees, Treasurer, Chairperson & Senior management team.
- knowledge of Charity Commission legislation requirements.

  • A confident articulate public speaker.
  • Leader of OPEX & CAPEX Investments with the ability to achieve significant ROI.


This is a fantastic C-level Executive Charity / Events role, that is easily accessible from: Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, South Yorkshire & East Riding of Yorkshire.


Charity / NFP or other Organisation sectors you may have worked in would include: Agricultural, Farming, Food, Fresh Produce, Events, Education, Training, Crafts, Community Development, Community Support, Sports, Equestrian, Livestock, Environmental, HumanServices, Trade Associations, Member Associations or other.


Interviews for this role are to take place in January 2023, with a goal of the successful CEO applicant starting with the Charity in the 1st Quarter of 2023 (depending on notice period).
