As The Property Ombudsman (TPO) embarks on an ambitious 3-year transformation journey, we have an exciting opportunity for a new Director of Finance.

We are an influential, small, and friendly organisation and this is an exciting time to join us with a realopportunity to support our organisation through the next stage of our evolution.

Director of Finance


Salary:
£6- 73,000 FTE


Hours:
Full-time (35 hours per week) - we are happy to consider part-time working arrangements


Location:
Home based with occasional travel to Salisbury, Wiltshire.

About us:

The Property Ombudsman provides an impartial and independent Ombudsman service, helping to resolve disputes between consumers and property professionals.

We are the only Ombudsman scheme in the property professional sector and, as a not-for-profit organisation,we have been providing our service since 1990.


The role:


As our Director of Finance, you will work very closely with our Board Members taking responsibility for all financial aspects and strategic financial planning of the organisation by analysing our performance and managing governance and risk.

Leading anddeveloping the Finance & Membership teams you will play a critical part in instilling a financial mindset throughout the organisation ensuring all aspects of the business perform optimally, offer value for money, and support effective decision making.


Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be accountable for the successful delivery of the financial and membership strategies through the effective management and development of the financial and membership services performance, planning and reporting.


Being an active and influential member of our Senior Leadership Team, you will work closely with your leadership colleagues to deliver on organisational objectives and contribute to strategic planning discussions that shape the future of TPO.


You will be ready to bring:

We are looking for:


  • A general level of education at degree or professional level, or the equivalent level of attainment gained through professional experience.
  • Professionally qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACMA or ACCA) with experience of operating in a senior leadership/Executive Board role.
  • Proven track record as a successful Finance Director or Financial Controller, acquired through developing and managing the finance capabilities of service focussed organisations.
  • Experience of 'best in class' techniques for driving high performing financial management and corporate governance, with a track record of supporting executive teams to raise performance and deliver effective assurance.
  • Experience of leading the yearend process and liaising with external auditors.
  • A proven track record of advising senior management on best practice.
  • Proven track record of continuous improvement and of leading and managing change.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and lead a team through a period of growth and transformation.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to build strong and collaborative internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to introduce innovative ideas and challenge current practices in a cooperative manner.
  • Able to work under pressure, prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a fastpaced, challenging environment.
  • A proven ability to work collaboratively and achieve results whilst working remotely.
