This is a fixed term/secondment post until 01/06/2025 to meet the needs of the service.

The provision of medication via the homecare route is a growing service, which provides benefits to patients and clinicians alike.

We are seeking an individual who is motivated to deliver a high quality service and to support its evolution.


You will be based within the pharmacy homecare team at Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli and develop close working relationships with patients, service providers and clinical teams.


The role will include clerical and administrative tasks to support the day to day running of the homecare service for the Health Board.

You will be responsible for the management of prescriptions for patients receiving their medications via the homecare route, maintaining accurate records and resolving queries.

In addition you will be expected to work closely with finance and procurement teams ensuring timely processing of orders and invoices, provide data for invoicing of high cost medicines and liaise with clinicians to ensure homecare prescriptions are provided in a timely manner.


Previous experience of working within Pharmacy Medicines Management or Homecare is not necessary, however enthusiasm for a new challenge and a willingness to learn are key.


Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties.

Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales.

Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;

Seven community hospitals:
Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.
