Senior Student Engagement Communications Coordinator

Marketing and Communications

FTE: 1 FTE (working 37 hours per week)
Duration of Contract: Permanent
Salary: UH6 £29,619 pa - £32,348 pa with potential to progress to £35,333 pa on achieving designated skills and experience
Location: MacLaurin Building, Hatfield- Marketing and Communications is responsible in understanding our audiences, using insight to deliver impactful, stand-out communications campaigns to drive student recruitment, admissions and engage with prospective and current students, staff, and external audiences.
Main duties and responsibilities

  • Our student engagement communications team plays a central role in delivering a seamless communications experience covering every step of the way.
  • This is an exciting opportunity to take the lead on developing student communications plans and campaigns that change behaviours and inspire success. The role holder will collaborate closely with colleagues across the University including its departments, Schools of Study, Herts SU, and our external stakeholders.
  • You will be responsible for developing messaging about academic and student life at Herts that resonates with our students. You will also oversee our communication channels with the opportunity to contribute to their development and continual improvement.
    Skills and experience required
  • We are looking for someone who can deliver campaigns and communications plans that create impact. You will be creative in your thinking about generating content that is effective across our student segments including apprenticeships, undergraduate, postgraduate, and international.
  • You will be highly organised and able to manage multiple projects while ensuring excellent attention to detail. We work in an everchanging environment so you will need to be able to manage unexpected reactive communications such as crisis issues.
  • Working in higher education and understanding the student journey will be an advantage but is not essential. We're primarily looking for someone who understands what makes up fantastic customer experience. This role has a wider variety of stakeholders so building solid and healthy working relationships where you can collaborate and influence.
    Qualifications required
  • As a minimum we would like a degree in Communications and/or Marketing or equivalent or proven professional experience.
