Spinwell is recruiting for a Health and Safety Advisor for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HEALTH AND SAFETY ADVISOR
- Lead CIS Organisation & Arrangements (O&A) for Health & Safety.
- Assure the strategic intent of O&A is fully achieved and maintained.
- Lead and drive Health & Safety improvements.
- Foster and drive a strong / positive learning safety culture.
- Provide competent and technical safety advice to division staff.
- Provide proactive identification of safety issues and solutions.
- Lead on CIS safety inspections and improvement measures.
- Assist in investigations and assure actions are implemented and effective.
- Support the corporate HS&E team with audits and inspections as required.
- Interpret H&S information and extract lessons relevant to work of the division.
- Support/lead the H&S knowledge/skills development and coaching of division staff.
- Work with Group Leaders to shape H&S culture and advise on lessons identified from investigations, audits and inspections and continuous improvement.
- Liaise with corporate HS&E team and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with mandatory regulations.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE HEALTH AND SAFETY ADVISOR
- Relevant experience managing Health & Safety in the workplace either as H&S Practitioner or in a delivery role with key H&S responsibilities.
- Ability to demonstrate leadership, influence and impact in a H&S themed role.
- A sound understanding of, and the ability to interpret, H&S law.
- Solid understanding of current and evolving H&S best practice.
- An approach based on information and knowledge sharing.
- Demonstrable ability to prioritise workload in the face of conflicting demands.
- Ability to build strong relationships with teams and stakeholders.
- Negotiate effectively to find pragmatic and workable solutions.
- Accountability to take ownership and deliver impactful outcomes.
- Ability to provide timely, consistent, accurate and meaningful advice.
- Knowledge of hazard profile and risk mitigation strategies associated with a Science, Technology or Engineering environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Plan, lead and conduct or support H&S investigations or incidents.
- Work with and influencing stakeholders.
- Recognised Safety qualification at National Qualifications Framework Level 3 or NVQ equivalent e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate.
- Hold Tech IOSH or equivalent with a recognised H&S professional body.
