Gilbert Stephens Financial Services Limited was established in 1988 as part of Gilbert Stephens LLP Solicitors to complement the high-quality legal advice already provided to their clients.

We remain a subsidiary company.


Due to our continued expansion, we are looking for a qualified
Advisor to offer new and existing clients a comprehensive financial planning and advisory service within Gilbert Stephens Financial Services Ltd.

The successful applicant will have at least Level 4 accreditation and ideally Financial Services experience, though the role may suit an individual looking for their first advisory position, with a sound working knowledge of the following:

Financial Services regulatory requirements, Savings accounts, Collectives Investment Accounts, ISAs, Investment Trusts, Exchange Traded Funds, Investment Bonds, Structured Products, Pensions, UK personal income and capital gains taxation (including completion of Self-Assessment Tax Returns and Tax Repayment Claim Forms), investment requirements for Trusts and knowledge of appropriate Trust taxation, Long Term Care plans, Mortgages, Equity Release products and any other form of investment which might be appropriate for Private Client needs.


Core duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • To ensure that all communications with clients
  • including correspondence, meetings, and telephone calls
  • are conducted in strict accordance with the Company's Client Care procedures and, where appropriate, that the Company's standard documentation is used. Written records must be kept on the client's file of all instructions received and all advice given.
  • Where the client has been referred by a member of the LLP, the referrer must be always kept up to date with progress whether by copy correspondence or as otherwise agreed. Where the need for further legal advice is identified, the client must be referred to that person in the first instance.
  • To ensure that every aspect of the Company's conduct fully adheres to the requirements of the relevant legislation and regulatory authorities, and to bring any areas of concern to the immediate attention of the Financial Services Manager(s) or the Board.
  • To support crossreferral initiatives between the Company and LLP and to encourage LLP fee earners in maximising the opportunities for financial services work afforded by their work.
  • To maintain the highest level of professional knowledge of developments, products, and trends within the financial services industry, and where appropriate to ensure that colleagues, the Board, and members of the LLP are provided with the relevant information.
  • To achieve agreed levels of fee income and to ensure that all work undertaken personally fully complies with all relevant legislation and the procedures and standards contained in the LLP's Office Manual and Company's Compliance Manual.
  • To prepare quotations and information for the Board and LLP fee earners as required.
  • To report any serious disciplinary matters concerning members of staff of the Company or any regular breaches to the Financial Services Manager(s) or the Board.

Required qualifications, skills, experience, and personal attributes:

  • A minimum of GCSE (grade C or above) in English and Mathematics, or equivalent. Further higher qualifications are desirable.
  • Level 4 accreditation or any higher qualification level required from time to time by the relevant accreditation authority to qualify as an Independent Financial Adviser.
  • Computer literacy with experience of MS Word and Excel products. Intermediate word processing and Internet research skills are essential.
  • A high level of interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • A sound practical knowledge of the workings of the state welfare benefits scheme is also important, especially in relation to elderly or disadvantaged clients and to those in or entering care.
  • A friendly, calm, precise and polite approach to dealing with clients and professional contacts and colleagues, both on the telephone and in person.

Salary:
From £20,000.00 per year
