SUMMARY
This post offers an opportunity to play a leading role in various aspects of Arad's research projects. This will be a full-time, permanent position, although we welcome applicants who prefer to work part-time or on secondment.
The ability to work through the medium of Welsh is essential for this post.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Arad is a research company based in Cardiff. We provide high-quality research and evaluation services on behalf of clients in Wales and elsewhere in the UK. Clients include the Welsh Government, charities, local authorities, arts organisations and further and higher education institutions.
Our team offers expertise in the fields of education, training and skills; economic development; culture and heritage; children and young people; employment and social inclusion.
The roleArad researchers contribute to qualitative and quantitative research and evaluation projects.
This includes designing research tools, carrying out qualitative interviews and focus groups, supporting the design and implementation of surveys, drafting research proposals, report writing and liaising professionally with external clients.
We intend to appoint at the junior researcher level, with progression to the senior researcher level.However, if you are an experienced researcher seeking a senior role, we would be happy to discuss a other roles in Arad.
Example projects
In this role you would contribute to numerous ongoing Arad research projects, such as the evaluation of curriculum reform in Wales for the Welsh Government or the evaluation of the National Music Service for the WLGA.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
The applicant will have:
- experience in undertaking fieldwork (e.g. interviews, focus groups), analysis and reporting;
- the ability to analyse and summarise complex information;
- the ability to take initiative and work independently;
- a degree-level qualification;
- excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal directly with clients;
- the ability to communicate effectively in English and Welsh.
Desirable
Ideally, the applicant will have:
- experience as a researcher or policy officer;
- a post-graduate qualification or experience in social science / education / economics / research methods;
- a good understanding of the Welsh policy context;
- experience in using statistical or qualitative analysis software.
