We have an exciting full-time/part time considered opportunity for Nursing Associate practitioner with surgical experience or any other background, who has a keen interest in Surgery to join our dynamic team on ward 2 SEU (Surgical Emergency Unit).

Ward 2 is a 16 bedded ward caring for General Surgical, Urology, Plastic and ENT patients.

We are also proud of establishing a new service SDEC with trolley/chaired area for assessment, treatment and ambulatory care to provide Same Day Emergency Care for surgical and urology patients.

You must have a keen interest within a surgical field. You must also be committed to excellence with a friendly, positive attitude, and be an active team member.

Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without supervision. To assist in the monitoring of performance and work of the Nursing Team. Managing the shift as safely and effectively as possible.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Develop and improve competence and skills primarily surgical skills and to include ECG & cannulation

Communicate effectively, with clarity, compassion, empathy & respect adhering to confidentiality at all times. Ensure clear, concise, accurate and legible records are made

Report any accidents or incidents and raise any concerns

To assist the registered nurse in the planning, management and evaluation of surgical care

Ensure the privacy, dignity and safety of individuals is maintained at all times

Recognise issues relating to safeguarding and report problems or raise concerns as appropriate

Develop understanding of caring for individuals with particular conditions e.g dementia

Demonstrate good understanding of principles of consent and ensuring consent is obtained prior to undertaking nursing and care procedures

Demonstrate good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act/DoLs

Work in an effective, organised manner demonstrating good time management and organisational skills

To be the patients advocate & provide excellent high quality care

To record observations, document, report and escalate using NEWS2 & pain comfort score

To respond appropriately to clinical emergencies

To act always in a manner which, promotes positive working relationships & maintains the professional image of the Trust.

Understand and adhere to Trust polices, guidelines and procedures
