Are you a freelance Sub Agent looking for your next freelance opportunity?


Our client, a leading principal contractor, is seeking a dedicated Sub Agent to join their dynamic team in the North East of Scotland for a 3-6 month duration to delivering a major Civil Engineering projects.

Our client is at the forefront of delivering diverse Civil Engineering projects in collaboration with Transport Scotland.

From road maintenance, bridge repairs to advanced geotechnical and structural maintenance schemes, they are committed to excellence in maintenance, asset management, winter maintenance, and incident response across Scotland's strategic road network.


As the Sub Agent your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide engineering expertise
  • Interpret drawings and specifications
  • Supervise and mentor onsite teams
  • Make sure everyone is trained and competent
  • Keep accurate records of work
  • Encourage saving money and using resources well
  • Prepare reports and contribute to project commercial aspects
  • Work with foremen to plan tasks and get what's needed
  • Lead weekly meetings and support using digital tools
  • Oversee quality control systems, including internal processes and temporary structures design

What you can expect:


  • Contract duration of 36 months
  • April start date
  • PAYE
  • Day rate of £250 to £350 DOE.

What you'll need:


  • Degree
  • HND/HNC in Engineering or equivalent
  • CSCS and First Aid qualifications are essential
  • Demonstrable experience as a Sub Agent in civil engineering sector
  • Previous experience working for a main contractor within the civil engineering sector
  • Road maintenance experience is essential.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills
  • Previous experience in Temporary Works Coordination
  • Appointed Person qualification is desirable
  • UK driving licence
