About the Group

Corporate Centre

The Corporate Centre Group provides a wide range of corporate services to enable people at HM Treasury and many of the other organisations who form part of the Treasury Group (including the Government Internal Audit Agency, the Debt Management Office and the new National Infrastructure Bank) to operate effectively and efficiently.

We are a diverse group, both in terms of our professions and in our ways of working.

The Corporate Centre Group is made up of: Commercial; Correspondence and Information Rights; Finance; Human Resources; Information Workspace Solutions (IWS); the Flexible Safer Working team, the Darlington programme team and Treasury Group Shared Services (based in Norwich).

About the Team

Correspondence and Information Rights Team
The Correspondence and Information Rights Team (CIRT) consists of:

  • The Information Rights Unit (IRU) who deal with requests for recorded information.
  • The Correspondence and Enquiries Unit (CEU), who handle correspondence from the public and Members of Parliament (MPs).
  • The Projects and Change Team who lead on our change and improvement plans, manage our case management system and provide day to day MI reporting in relation to FOI's and correspondence received within the Treasury.

We're a friendly team based across London, Norwich and Darlington and we welcome people from different ages, experiences and backgrounds.

Key responsibilities
Correspondence sent to the government is a crucial channel of communication for both MPs and the public.

It is ministerial and departmental priority that the Treasury provides timely and high-quality responses to enquiries and concerns that are raised; CEU leads and develops the department's correspondence processes and is responsible for ensuring correspondence is handled appropriately and efficiently.

As a Correspondence Officer, you will be contributing to this busy team by being responsible for the successful handling and the flow of correspondence cases from the minute they are received, to the moment that replies are dispatched.

Much of the role includes being engaged with Treasury policy officials, other Government departments, and ministerial private offices.

This means that the role provides an outstanding opportunity to experience working on a central government process involving Ministers and gain a good understanding of HM Treasury policies and how they are communicated.

Key accountabilities for this role will include:

  • Use your knowledge and judgement to help figure out how cases should be dealt with;
  • Use our electronic correspondence h
