About the team

Within our Merchant services business the
Systems Architect works within our agile release trains handling the overall architectural design and development of new products and enhancements.

By ensuring timely deployment in a cost-effective and sustainableprocess, he/ she will work with software engineering teams to provide solutions to business problems as well as capitalize on new technological advancements.

The Systems Architect's mission is to continuously search for ways to improve FIS's catalogue of productsand services, with focus on creating and maintaining stable, reliable systems for our clients and partners.


What you will be doing
Define and own "Systems Architecture" utilizing on premise infrastructure, cloud environment, enterprise standards, best practices, and reference architecture.- Define, create, and maintain Logical, Technical and Physical views of platforms

  • Work closely with Software Engineering Teams on architectural definition for a feature or product
  • Ensure transparency of requirements and address these requirements during architecture definition; make sure these are realized during product engineering development and deployment
  • Define reusable components, frameworks, common schemas, standards, and tools to be used across platforms
  • Mentor and guide technical teams
  • Work with teams to ensure that Non-Functional Requirements are considered during all phases of SDLC
  • Consult internal product engineering owners, product teams, enterprise architecture and customers (internal as well as external) on technology choices and feasibility evaluation

What you bring:


  • Defining and realizing endtoend "Systems Architecture" for large and complex globally distributed platforms.
  • Experience in defining and realizing Micro Service Architectures, payments platform experience
  • Experience with cloudbased services like caching, databases, search, etc.
  • Must have excellent design and architecture skills ability to understand software design for timecritical, largescale systems, for both traditional and microservices
  • Must have Java and AWS (or other cloud) development experience
  • Familiarity with agile development practice (SAFe is a plus)
  • Experience in using microservices, PaaS and container platforms
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Delivery
  • Proficient in creating documentation (architecture blueprints, design specifications)
  • Strong experience in at least one RDBMS
  • Interpersonal skills ability to collaborate with teams and participate in design meetings
  • Presentation skills ability to articulate design in meetings and experience with putting together visual artifacts
  • Up to date with technology trends and possess ability to correlate them with business and customer need with a proven track record of effective verbal and written communications
  • Background in the Payment Card Industry preferred
