Description
Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.

It's not every job where you make a difference for the people of Scotland. But it's what's behind every job here.

Our work keeps Scotland's water flowing, from reservoir to tap - and from sewer to treatment plant.

Do your bit by joining our team based in Edinburgh
- home of our Commercial Land Management Team. They are on the look out for someone who can keep things running smoothly.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and commercially-aware graduate/trainee Chartered Surveyor to help us drive forward our ongoing property disposals programme and the delivery of property management services for an asset portfolio covering the whole of Scotland.

What you'll do

You'll support the Scottish Water Strategic Plan for and its Strategic Ambitions of Great Value & Financial Sustainability, Beyond Net Zero and Service Excellence through proactive management of its property asset base.

What you'll bring

You'll be someone who genuinely understands what outstanding customer service is all about. You'll have really good numeracy and digital skills as well as holding a full current UK driving licence.

A knowledge of, and preferably, some experience of property transactions and asset management will be advantageous while you'll be able demonstrate that you have initiative and the ability to prioritise your own workload whilst also being a committed team player.

The position will offer you excellent opportunities to gain an in-depth understanding of property consultancy work in the commercial and rural sectors in a dynamic and results-driven working environment.

It will be well suited to graduates in property-related disciplines seeking to prepare for their Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) to become full members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and to begin a career in property management.

Support and mentoring will be provided in this regard.

Looking out for you

While the work we do is important, we know it's not the only thing that matters. That's why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.

The working hours for this role are Monday to Friday, from 9am until 5pm (although we can be flexible i.e. earlier start/finish times). But you'll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community.

When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.

For your future, there's our pension (the 'know-what-you'll-get-when-you-retire' kind), as well as life assurance.

As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus.

Not to mention access to SW Splash - handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.

The not-so-small print

The starting salary for this role will be £31,380 - £43,350.

Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc. These checks are conducted on our behalf by a third party. Don't worry. We'll ask your permission before initiating these checks.
