Description

Achievio is a Tuition and Education Centre based in Melksham offering individual and group tuition to children from 4-18 years of age.

During the school day, we offer Alternative Provision to schools and local authorities and are a Wiltshire Approved Alternative Provision setting.

We are seeking Tutors with experience and expertise in Key Stage 3 and 4 English to work with our Alternative Provision students.

Alternative Provision students come to us as they need something different to mainstream school. Many have SEND and most will have found their recent time in school challenging.

Our role is to work with students for a short period of time, offering tuition in English and Maths alongside social and emotional work preparing them for their next school placement.

Our Tutors have responsibility for 2 children and are supported by a Tutor Assistant so that most tutoring is carried out 1 to 1.

Our Alternative Provision sessions currently run from 9:30-12:00, Monday to Friday and our Tutors are paid for 3 hours per session.

The contract will be 0 hours but ideally Tutors will work 15 hours per week, although there is flexibility to work certain days rather than all week.

After Easter we will be offering afternoon sessions too so there will be the opportunity to extend hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To plan and deliver tutoring sessions to individuals and/or small groups
  • Monitor and ensure the safety of children within the centre at all times
  • Track progress against targets and provide regular updates
  • To plan for and direct Tutoring Assistants
  • Maintain a clean, inviting, and secure learning environment
  • Share ideas and collaborate with colleagues to ensure all our students are well supported
We would like to hear from you if you:

  • Are a qualified teacher
  • Enjoy working with children and can develop positive, professional relationships with them
  • Have experience of supporting children with their learning and are able to make learning engaging in an individual and/or small group setting
  • Have experience of working with SEND children, including those with EHCPs and can adapt your teaching to meet their individual needs
  • Have strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • Are reliable, enthusiastic and selfmotivated
  • Have the ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively with colleagues
  • Have a positive, patient, and enthusiastic attitude towards teaching and learning
  • Are committed to giving all children the opportunity and support to be successful
  • Are willing to undertake training as and when required
  • Are committed to safeguarding and promoting child welfare
