Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor robotic welding machines to perform MAG welding on metal components according to specified work orders and technical drawings
  • Load materials and products into machines, using hand tools and lifting equipment.
  • Safely Clamp the products onto the machine
  • Set up and adjust welding robot and related machinery for optimal performance and welding quality.
  • Fit and weld gas and pneumatic ports on to accumulator bodies using robotic GMAW welding equipment.
  • Inspect workpieces prewelding for proper fitup and post welding for defects and ensure they meet quality standards, making necessary adjustments as needed
  • Maintain and troubleshoot robotic welding equipment, including routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and registering any malfunctions or breakdowns.
  • Organised tool inventory
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed during welding operations, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety guidelines.

Observe and follow all safety procedures, regulations and practices and employ all safety equipment and devices.

  • Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to resolve welding issues, optimize processes, and meet product specifications.
  • Record production data such as cycle time, arc time etc. and maintain accurate records of welding parameters, quality checks, and equipment maintenance.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, as well as industryspecific standards and regulations related to welding.

Key Attributes
The below attributes should be demonstrated through previous experience or through being able to adapt

  • Computer literate to a reasonable standard (the position is largely computer based)
  • Basic understanding of computerbased programmes and software (Beneficial)
  • Familiarity in MAG Welding processes (Beneficial)
  • Keen appetite to learn and develop new skills.
  • Previous experience operating machinery / CNC equipment (Beneficial)
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new welding technologies and processes as needed.
  • Dedication to delivering highquality products and products while minimizing defects.
  • Able to work well under pressure, without jeopardising quality or Health and Safety.
  • Work well as part of a small focused team.

Key Skills

  • Experience and knowledge in Welding is preferred but not essential.
  • Previous operator skills on CNC equipment or similar.
  • Knowledge of welding software and programming is of significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with different metal types and welding processes.
  • Strong understanding of safety guidelines and procedures.

Personal Development
- "Online Programming" training to be provided by the robot supplier.

  • Development and awareness of robotic welding to be provided at NAMRC.
