Peripatetic Clinical Lead

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Peripatetic Clinical Lead who is truly passionate about providing the best possible care to our residents across our group.


Working as part of our fantastic multi-disciplinary team, your role will be to provide clinical nursing leadership within nursing homes across our group to cover absences and leave of Registered Nurse Managers.

When not providing management cover, the post holder will be expected to work in any of our homes providing person centred nursing care to residents and their relatives.


You will work across our 7 homes however you will be based in one home for the duration of each shift.

Our homes are located in
Ballynahinch (x3), Carryduff, Belfast, Crumlin and
Banbridge.

Job Duties
The post holder will be required to work as a Registered Nurse or Nurse Manager as follows:

Management

  • Take responsibility for the overall management of the nursing home in the absence of the Registered Nurse Manager.
  • Liaise with external statutory bodies such as the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority, ensuring compliance with minimum care standards and regulations.
  • Reporting and investigating accidents/ incidents as per trust protocol and RQIA Regulation 30 reporting and in line with company procedures.
  • Maintain registration with NMC and participate in revalidation of registered nurses.
  • Attend management meetings and organise staff meetings, relatives and residents meetings.
  • 24 hours responsibility of the nursing home during Management cover.
  • To demonstrate clinical expertise and professional standards of leadership within the field of nursing, strictly adhering to the NMC Code of Professional Practice.
  • Ensure clear lines of communication between staff, residents and relatively to assist in their understanding of care treatment and progress.
  • Promote a culture of safe practice by ensuring staff are aware of Health and Safety Policies and adhere to policies and procedures, minimizing risk to residents, staff and visitors.
  • Maintain effective financial controls when dealing with resident's finances.
  • Effective management and leadership of employees.
  • Any other relevant duty.

Nursing

  • Comply with all policies, procedures, clinical protocols, standards and guidelinesbased on legislation, evidence based nursing practice and NMC guidelines forconduct and professional practice.
  • Provide quality care to residents in partnership with other care staff.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping as per company policy and NMC Guidelines.
  • Monitor and evaluate standards of care and report to nurse in charge / nurse manager.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions and courses as required.
  • Provide support, guidance and supervision to junior staff as required.
  • Participate in induction and teaching programmes to students and members of staff to include supervision, preceptorship and training and those undertaking NVQ qualification.
  • Administer medications, treatments and interventions as prescribed and to monitor their effects.
  • Assess and prescribe nursing equipment within existing resources and advise patients / clients / carers on the use of same.
  • Work flexibly within any area of the home as directed by the Manager or the Operations Manager, to provide support according to the home's needs.
  • Act as Line Manager to Care Assistants and other support staff and assist the Nurse Manager in the effective management of staff. The postholder will be required to undertake reasonable duties in this regard.
  • Due to the nature of the post, moderate physical effort may be required during a working shift e.g. the manoeuvring of patients.
  • Any other relevant duty.

Essential criteria

  • Registration on sub part 1of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) live register by the closing date of the recruitment advertisement.
  • 3 years postqualification experience, 2 of which must be in a nursing home environment within the past 5 years.
  • Relevant management qualification or 2 years managerial experience in the last 5 years.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of professional and statutory bodies.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the issues and tasks involved in the management of nursing homes for example employee relations and budget management.
  • A valid full UK driving license and access to a vehicle OR access to a form of transport which enables the post holder to fulfil the duties of the post.
