The role will work in collaboration with Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) colleagues and external stakeholders on all areas of events and emergency planning.

This role will assist the Events and Emergency Planning Lead, in maintaining and developing existing plans and progressing event planning across the region.

The role will be situated within the Regional Transport Coordination Centre (RTCC) and support the coordination and liaison with all transport networks in the West Midlands area, working in collaboration with the seven metropolitan local highways authorities, emergency services, transport operators, Network Rail and National Highways during an incident.

In addition, the post holder will proactively support the TfWM response to the adverse impacts from activities on the networks, which cause delays and provide effective responses to support partner organisations in their responsibilities for improving congestion and keeping the networks moving.


What you will be doing

  • Help identify training needs and requirements of key personnel within the organisation
  • Represent TfWM professionally at forums that pertain to emergency planning and event planning
  • Collate information pertinent to the delivery of an event within the region
  • Ensure the Regional Transport Coordination Centre are fully briefed and supported with appropriate and proportionate documents that will aid the region's transport response
  • Work closely with the TfWM Data Insight Service team to review all transport network performance, working closely with other TfWMmodes to proactively plan improvements
  • Own and maintain a portfolio of event and emergency planning contacts to ensure regular stakeholder engagement
  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of a consistent approach and mechanisms to logging event information and the associated transport implications
  • Collaborate and coordinate the administration of event day Operational Orders which will outline the transport response to major events and other activities across the region
  • Assist the process and consolidate event, engineering, disruption information into a single transport focused event calendar for the West Midlands, ensuring RTCC overview and allocation

About you

  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders both internal and external
  • Understanding of the regions transport network and stakeholders
  • Administrative and organisational skills in order to appropriately log information and ensure it is effectively communicated
  • Prepared to undergo a degree that pertains to event management or emergency planning

Location
16 Summer Lane, Birmingham, B19 3SD. Hybrid working conditions are currently in place which means working remotely and coming to the office when required. Occasional site visits will be required.
