Family Support Programme Lead

Up to £29,985 FTE per annum depending upon experience

30 hours per week


The Joshua Tree is recruiting for a newly created Family Support Programme Lead role who will be responsible for managing a team of Family Support Workers, providing a full range of emotional, health and wellbeing and outdoors support to benefit families affected by childhood cancer.


The post holder is expected to lead by example, formulate high quality delivery plans and build strong working relationships with staff, visitors, volunteers, partners and users of the service.

A key element of the role will be ensuring our work is impactful and supporting those who need us.

You will be supportive and caring, with the ability to deal sensitively with the families we support.

You will be able to inspire and support a dedicated team of Family Support Workers and be able to communicate effectively across all areas of the charity.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for the line management of our England based five Family Workers, coordinating regular team meetings, supervisions and annual appraisals.
  • To oversee and develop innovative delivery plans specifically designed to improve the emotional, health and wellbeing of families.
  • To work closely with local partner Petty Pool to develop a range of outdoor activities for families to access regularly.
  • To allocate and manage your team's workload and oversee work schedules.
  • To ensure that families are signposted effectively to other agencies, when they require supportbeyond our remit.
  • To liaise with appropriate agencies involved with families to ensure consistency of support andwork collaboratively with other charities.
  • To monitor project budgets and expenditure for the delivery of services
  • To identify any gaps in family support service provision and put plans in place to fill them.
  • To take the lead maintaining the quality of our work and seeking family feedback to develop andmake recommendations on developing the service further.
  • To maintain appropriate records both written and electronic, in line with GDPR
  • To monitor and evaluate the impact of our work using online Lamplight Database and otherqualitative methods.
  • To provide the Head of Family Support with regular progress reports and recommendations asrequired
  • Being committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and our families and awareof professional boundaries
  • To ensure that all policies and procedures are adhered to at all times and all written recordsappropriately maintained for all sessions and interactions.
  • To ensure all duties are carried out in compliance with Health and Safety Policy and if relevant anyStatutory requirements.
  • To ensure risk assessments for service delivery and in place and adhered to
  • Other duties as required to fulfil the objectives of the role.
  • Proven experience of working with children, young people and families
  • Strong planning skills with the ability to develop and deliver plans.
  • Previous experience of leading a team of people
  • Creative and full of new ideas
  • Strong IT skills including Outlook, PowerPoint & Database experience.
  • Hardworking, team player and strong ability to build rapport with others.
  • Ability to manage your own workload, plan your time and prioritise a number of tasks at once.
