We are seeking a Head of English at Twynham School to join our exciting journey.


Twynham School and The Grange School (TGS) federated teaching structures for September 2021 enabling us to deliver world class educational experiences to students across both of our schools.

This is a rare opportunity to join our organisation working as a Head of English at Twynham School.

You will be part of a leadership group leading English across both of our schools with a particular responsibility for the department at Twynham School.

This is a truly exceptional and very rare opportunity for a talented colleague.

Essential:


  • An honours degree (or equivalent) in English or a related discipline
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven experience of improving outcomes for students in English as a classroom teacher
  • Successful experience of teaching English across Key Stage 34 in a state 1116 or 1118 school
  • Experience of leading staff and responsibility for outcomes of a cohort of students beyond your own classroom
  • An understanding of effective pedagogy
  • Successful experience of curriculum design Excellent classroom management skills

Desirable:


  • First class or Upper secondclass degree in English or a related discipline
  • A background of working in a department with" above average" progress data
  • Successful teaching experience of Alevel English
  • Evidence of further leadership development
  • Experience of working across a range of school environments
  • Experience of involvement in successful (good or outstanding) Ofsted inspection
  • Experience of leading school trips and a commitment to the encouraging extracurricular activities
  • A knowledge of the changing national education agenda
  • Ability to drive and access to own car
