DAI is seeking a qualified, experienced Payroll Officer on a Fixed Term Contract to join our fun, vibrant, diverse, and busy HR Team.

DAI has a Managed Service contract with our service provider
ADP.

From the UK, we run three payrolls, our main UK one (approx. 190 staff, a smaller international payroll of 4 staff and a shadow payroll for US secondees). Numbers may vary.


This is anticipated to be a 6-8-months role with possibility for extension on a rolling basis and we are open to this being a full time or part time position.

You will be based in Apsley, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, and working in spacious, bespoke offices, 30 minutes out of Euston - with excellent rail and motorway links to London and region.

The salary offered will be commensurate with relevant experience. The full-time equivalent salary range for this role is £25,000 to £30,000 per annum. DAI offers a generous benefits package and there are several day-to-day perks of working at DAI that help keep us happy and motivated


Main Purpose of Role.


You will be responsible for the proactive, accurate, compliant preparation and processing of the company's three complex payrolls through provision of correct inputs for all fixed and variable payroll data to ADP and all associated reporting and audit requirements.


A breakdown of some of the key tasks, duties and responsibilities:
***- Work with HR Team members to ensure accurate data information is entered and maintained in ADP and timely processed.

  • Ensure input of monthly payroll variables as relevant per different Payroll groups (holiday, sickness, salary changes) maintaining appropriate internal records of such.
  • Run all precommit payroll activities and successfully take payroll process to completion stage, reporting to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • To sense check the payroll to ensure all payments, calculations and statutory monies are processed accurately by the payroll provider and liaise with them as appropriate if any issues are identified. International payroll is not via BACS initiate manually through bank in compliance with schedule of authority.
  • To ensure pension details are up to date and uploaded to the pension provider portal each month.
  • Order monthly childcare vouchers from service provider and complete tax assessments annually at start of the new tax year per HMRC guidelines.
  • To provide Finance with relevant monthly reports and invoices e.g., payroll journal for posting to the nominal and cost ledgers and the supporting worksheets.
  • To assist with financial audits and prepare associated records as and when required by the Chief Finance Officer and associated finance colleagues.
  • Ensure offboarding of employees from payroll is accurate and follow up with exiting documentation (e.g., P45).
  • Responsible for end of Tax Year payroll activities (e.g., P11Ds, P60 etc.).
  • To act upon information received from the HMRC, DWP, Contributions Agency etc.
  • Consider and advise on any procedural improvements or streamlining to improve efficiency, compliance and/or reduce potential for error or data breach.
  • Actively seek and maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding relevant regulations.
  • Address payroll queries with finance and employees, consulting with Payroll Manager and HRIS Manager as necessary.

Qualifications, knowledge, skills, and experience:


Essential:


  • It is essential that we engage a qualified experienced payroll practitioner with demonstrable experience in accurately processing complex payroll of similar size, end to end with the ability to act as an expert advisor on all payroll matters.
  • Highly analytical, committed to accuracy, attention to detail, highly autonomous and selfdirected
  • Strong customer service orientation that reflects a sense of commitment and ownership.
  • Excellent systems skills and experience of working and liaising with an outsourced payroll provider, preferably ADP, in the preparation and running of payroll.
  • Able to work efficiently yet methodically and identify areas to streamline and make improvements, where necessary.
  • Team player who can work collaboratively with colleagues and key stakeholders across the businesses.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Nonpolitical, handles highly confidential information with discretion.
