About the role


We have a brand new opportunity for a Senior RPA Developer to join us at our Business Service Centre in Caerphilly and support in the design, building, development, and implementation of RPA bots to work alongside colleagues and enhance the efficiency ofvarious business processes.

Working closely with the RPA Lead, you will have the chance to build on your own skills and take a step up into team leadership by mentoring and developing two RPA Developers in the team.


Since being introduced to the business, the RPA team has provided significant value to Shared Service Centres throughout DS Smith and we're now looking to expand so that more and more teams can feel the benefits of the RPA team's contributions and expertise.


Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and designing business processes for automation
  • Building RPA bots to agreed timelines and in accordance with agreed functional documentation, group policies, RPA standards and architectural requirements
  • Conducting peer code reviews
  • Organising and communicating with business stakeholders to conduct User Acceptance Testing, Handover and Hypercare processes
  • Monitoring and maintaining RPA bots post implementation, resolving any potential issues
  • Leading the investigation and detailed analysis of RPA incidents and process exceptions including a strategic approach to root cause analysis
  • Technical leadership and mentoring, providing technical guidance, support and assistance to more junior members of the team
  • Recognise latest technology opportunities within RPA

About you

  • Experience in an RPA Developer role, ideally within a Shared Service environment
  • Strong knowledge of RPA software
  • A logical thinker, with the ability to stay organised and prioritise workload
  • Excellent communication skills so that partnerships can be built with your teammates, DS Smith colleagues, and external customers
  • Ability to produce work to an excellent standard, always paying attention to finer details
  • A desire to develop team leadership/management skills
  • Knowledge of financial reporting, general ledgers, and other accounting principles will be advantageous
