Job Overview

Earth Systems is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Environmental Geoscientist /
Water Specialist to join our Environmental Management Group in the UK.

This is a great opportunity for early career environmental professionals with experience in
environmental engineering, hydrology, water quality and geochemistry to join our team to help
develop and grow the Earth Systems' Bristol office.

As an Environmental Geoscientist / Water Specialist at Earth Systems, you will work on a range
of environmental assessment and management projects for a wide range of public and private
sector clients predominantly overseas within Africa and Southeast Asia. You will be responsible
for providing technical inputs and data analysis within the fields of hydrology / hydrogeology
/ water quality / geochemistry typically associated with Environmental and Social Impact
Assessments (ESIAs) including baseline studies and impact assessments as well as mine closure
plans.

Principal Duties


Responsibilities are expected to include:

Assisting with baseline field surveys and site investigations on overseas projects in
Africa and Southeast Asia associated with geochemical assessments, water quality studies,
groundwater assessments and project coordination with analytical laboratories;
Data interrogation, modelling, assessment, display and interpretation;
Preparation of figures / maps / tables and high quality technical reports;
Maintaining technical awareness of developments within environmental science relevant to
both the work of Earth Systems and consultants' technical background;
Project management of consulting inputs into multi-disciplinary environmental consulting
projects;
Preparation of cost estimates and proposals for potential clients; and

Routine travel for assignments throughout the Africa and Southeast Asia region.

What you bring


The successful applicant will have:

Have relevant environment or associated qualification(s) (preferably a MSc, PhD or DPhil);
Have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or postgraduate studies in the fields of
environmental geoscience, environmental modelling, water quality, environmental engineering or
mining;
An understanding of the assessment and management of Acid and Metalliferous Drainage (AMD
or ARD) will be an advantage;
Exceptional data management, manipulation and analysis skills;
Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to deliver at a high technical
standard;
The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team;
Exceptional written and verbal English language communication skills (proficiency in a
second language will be highly regarded);
Passion and a strong interest in the environment; and

An interest in, and ability to, travel internationally.
