Job Purpose:


Reporting directly to the Managing Director and accountable for the people, processes and costs within the Purchasing department as well as being accountable for the pricing structure and providing the sales functions with accurate and timely quotes.

Business acumen combined with analytical and organisational skills will ensure costs to the business are minimised whilst maintaining correct pricing, first-class service, and quality products to our customers.

All work must be carried out in accordance with the ISO 9001 quality management system standards and procedures in place.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversee the areas and teams within Purchasing.
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate, effective, and timely quotes are produced for the sales team.
  • Responsible for ensuring the pricing / quoting system holds accurate and up to date information at all times.
  • Understand the pricing structure and make recommendations for greater efficiencies, pricing changes, and system updates.
  • Proactively carry out regular reviews of the pricing structure to ensure it is kept accurate, up to date, and delivering the required profit margins.
  • Understand, and carry out regular reviews of the costs within the Purchasing areas and make recommendations for keeping them efficient without compromising on quality, timeframes, service or health and safety.
  • Build good business relationships with all key suppliers and seek to develop new relationships to secure better quality, pricing, and delivery timeframes.
  • Liaise with suppliers to resolve any delivery or quality issues immediately.
  • Provide foresight into nickel and steel prices and recommend actions now, and in the future, to protect the business.
  • Follow the business processes in place within Warrior Doors and make recommendations for improvements to the process owner.
  • Keep systems and procedures within the Purchasing areas accurate and up to date.
  • Provide measurements and reporting, and draw parallels on, the costs put into the quote system, the actual costs paid out, the price paid by the Customer and profit margin.
  • Develop and support a positive, motivated team.
  • Quickly and professionally resolve any concerns or questions that come from the sales or purchasing teams.
  • Activity participate in Management meetings providing accurate and meaningful reports, with narrative.
  • Effectively and accurately input information into our inhouse management systems, and ensure all paperwork is to the company standard and available in a timely manner.

  • Adhere to our Health & Safety guidelines and those of the Health & Safety Act 1974.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Responsible for the costs within the Purchasing areas, and the prices within the quote system, this role has overall accountability for achieving the gross profit margin target.
  • Authority given to sign off on spend and change suppliers within the Purchasing area up to a value and/or volume agreed by the Managing Director. Spend or change required more than the agreed amount must be submitted to the Leadership Team for authorisation first.
  • For effective management and leadership of staff in your area delivering all required management disciplines, health and safety, motivation, support, development, and areas as directed by the Company Administrator.
  • The accuracy and effectiveness of the purchasing teams and systems, to include purchasing, stock control, and goods in/out.
  • The accuracy and effectiveness of the quotes and quoting systems, and pricing structures.
  • Following the sales and purchasing processes in place and making recommendations for improvements.
  • As the business reviews and updates its processes and working practices, be flexible to embrace any changes or new ways of working.
  • Carrying out the role with honesty and integrity, whilst demonstrating the company values, and with the company's best interest at heart.

Education:


  • As the role requires complex pricing calculations and writing reports, a GCSE or equivalent in English & Mathematics of Grade C or above is required.
  • Mathematics 'A' level or equivalent.

Experience:


  • Minimum 2 years commercial management experience.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience managing people.
  • Experience of working with and delivering pricing solutions.
  • Experience of working within agreed targets, KPI's, and deadlines.
