Operations Manager (Transport)

Salary - £35,000 DOE

Location - Leeds (South)

This role is paramount to the smooth operation in distributing milk, other dairy and bakery items to schools, public sectors and various other establishments throughout the country whilst running a 24/7 operation.


The role:

Managing the operation of delivery workers across various locations, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Planning the 24-hour operation, predominantly distribution
  • Cover all Health & Safety, Food safety, stock control, picking & loading etc.
  • Ensuring all rounds go out on time in the fleet of refrigerated vehicles
  • Ensuring that strict policies and procedures are followed in relation to compliance
  • Ensuring stock checks are done and report all stock discrepancies
  • Ensuring vehicle and driver compliance is met and all regulation is followed
  • Managing all inbound and outbound deliveries
  • Managing the allocation of work and duties, planning, and coaching team members


At this stage of your career, you will be someone who is keen to put into practice existing knowledge and instil this upon others.

You will be someone who is fantastic at nurturing and developing long lasting relationships.


Furthermore, you will have:

  • Previous management experience in the food transport industry
  • Previous experience with managing fleet distribution
  • Knowledge of driver regulations is essential
  • The ability to make key decisions under pressure
  • Resilience and tenacity when dealing with problems
  • Someone who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get involved
  • Naturally a great personality wouldn't goamiss
