Position SummaryJob Description:
As a Game Mathematician at Light and Wonder, you will be responsible for developing, analysing, and optimising the mathematical models that drive the gameplay and mechanics of online casino games.
Your role is crucial in ensuring that the games offered by our iCasino platform are fair, engaging, and financially sustainable.
You will work closely with game designers, developers, and data analysts to create innovative gaming experiences while maintaining the integrity of the games' mathematics.
Key ResponsibilitiesGame Mathematical Modelling:
Develop and design the mathematical models for various iCasino games, including slot machines, table games, and other casino products.
Game Balance and Pay out Analysis: Analyse game performance data to ensure appropriate balance between player enjoyment and profitability. Adjust pay out percentages and game parameters as needed.Probability Analysis:
Conduct probability and statistical analyses to assess the likelihood of winning combinations and overall game outcomes.
Gameplay Simulation:
Create and play demos to evaluate game behaviour and potential player experiences.
Game Improvement and Optimisation:
Continuously improve existing games by implementing mathematical enhancements, new features, and mechanics to enhance player engagement and retention.
Regulatory Compliance:
Stay up-to-date with relevant gaming regulations and ensure that all games comply with the necessary legal requirements and industry standards.
Collaboration:
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including game designers, developers, QA testers, and data analysts, to ensure seamless integration of mathematical models into the games.
Risk Management:
Assess potential risks related to game mechanics and provide recommendations for risk mitigation strategies.
Documentation:
Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation of mathematical models, calculations, and game specifications.
Qualifications:
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
A Bachelor's or higher degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience:
Prior experience in iGaming or casino game development is essential. Strong mathematical modelling background is essential.
Mathematical Proficiency:
Profound understanding of probability theory, statistics, combinatorics, and other relevant mathematical disciplines.
Programming Skills:
Knowledge of programming languages like Python, C++, or JavaScript is beneficial for prototyping and implementation.
Analytical Thinking:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to analyse game data and identify optimisation opportunities.
Attention to Detail:
A meticulous approach to ensure mathematical accuracy and precision in game mechanics.
Creativity:
Ability to think creatively and develop innovative game features and mechanics.
Communication:
Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams effectively.
